Key Challenges Identified
- Capacitation of the Health Centre Committee
- Demanding improved EMS
Follow Up on 7 October 2015
The priority was capacity building of the Clinic Committee – understanding roles and responsibilities – to campaign for the provision of EMS as per regulation. Poor EMS services are a provincial wide problem. A population on 6.56 million serviced by 416 ambulances – impact most keenly felt by women & children in rural areas.
The Clinic Committee wrote a letter to the OR Tambo District Manager listing their health concerns, including poor EMS. No response received.
PSJ AO is part of the ECHCAC and was active in the hearings held by the SAHRC.
