Women Hope 4 the Nation was founded in 2002. They realised the huge need for a neighbourhood watch as many children and women were being attacked and raped in their area. The women got together and formed Women Hope 4 the Nation. They formed a Neighbourhood Watch made up of 15 – 20 women, trying to keep the community safe due to the high rate of gun shootings in the area. The women also formed a Youth Drilling Cadets – working with youth offering them skills to manage aggressive behaviour and learning techniques for self-discipline. The Youth School Dropout Project - encouraging young people to go back to school and to complete their schooling. Lastly, Village Heights Informal Settlements - working with the councillor Shaun August, is highlighting the basic needs of the community ranging from basic services to employment needs. The councillor feeds this information to his committee meetings and reports back to the community. The Sewing Project was started as an income generation project for women.

C3 complaints form: The form was explained at community meetings with the councillor. More work is needed in this regard.

Improving communication for community meetings: Communication seems to be improving with the use of WhatsApp notices.

More spaces should be created for community engagement with councillors to raise issues of concern and to clear up misunderstandings or areas of service delivery concerns of the residents.
