2. 2018 Monitoring the SASSA / SAPO transition

In 2017, Government introduced a state-led hybrid grants payment model, comprising payments through the South African Post Office (SAPO) and via commercial banks. The SAPO Special Disbursement Account (SDA) does not allow for debit/stop orders and USSD platform deductions. The Black Sash and 20 Community Partners are monitoring this transition to ensure beneficiaries receive the full cash value of their grant(s).
